i’m a day late. oh well. one of my resolutions, is not to worry about the small stuff like tardiness…unless it counts for something. of course, you could say this is a family trait…tardiness:) on my father’s side in particular. my grandma was known for her tardiness:) once someone actually sent her a wedding invitation with the time listed as 2 hours before the actual ceremony was to take place. we were the first to arrive for a change:)
anyway…i’ve been thinking about my knitting goals a lot this past year. originally i wanted to make sure i made something, at least one thing, from each of the knitting books i own. seeing as i have more than 30 books…i wanted to make sure to sure to use them. but i keep adding to the stack, and that doesn’t even count magazines, which are slowing catching up to the number of books. then i thought about what i’ve made and want to make in the future. and the yarn that i have. so…i came up with a pretty basic goal, hopefully it isn’t biting off more than i can chew. since i can’t just knit all day 🙂
i went through some of my books and tried to find things that i have been wanting to make (that wasn’t hard at all…) and limit the number to a reasonable amount. i’ve been knitting lots of socks and accessories. but i really want to make a sweater, or 2, or 30. and some tops. and a skirt (even though this is risky) and maybe even a dress! so…my knitting goal for 2011 is to make 11 garments. i’ve started a queue in ravelry to help me out. i’ve also tried to put in a queue the other things that i’ve been wanting to make but haven’t yet…socks, mitts, blankets, gifts for other people. so that when i am not wanting to work on one of the 11 garments, i have something else to work on. the thing is, my list of 11 garments, has changed a few times in the last week. so i’m not going to force myself to stick to certain items. i like to knit what i want when i want, and so i guess that is the basis of this, as well as use what i have for the most part. and i want to wear something that i made other than socks, a scarf, or a hat.
oh, and out of the 11 items…i want to make a sweater for dana. i’m thinking of using elizabeth zimmerman’s seamless hybrid recipe. but what yarn?? i’m thinking either cascade 220…or…malabrigo. since it will be an adventure…i’m thinking cascade 220, but…not sure which one…superwash or regular. any suggestions? happy new year ya’ll!
